“BROKEN” SYNOPSIS

Kevin is about to experience some drastic changes in his life that he has never had to face before. But, this time life's circumstances have brought something much deeper that will truly affect his entire life in every way that you could possibly imagine. Kevin, a gifted and talented music producer, managed his life, his finances, and his relationship as firmly as he managed his music.  After the death of his grandfather and severe financial problems, he finds himself losing control of the life that he once knew.  After constantly fighting his long term girlfriend, bill collectors, and his deadbeat brother who is now his roommate, he nears his breaking point.  To make matters worse, he works at a dead-end job for a woman who cheated on his brother! Will he pick up the pieces to his fracture life or will he find true healing in further brokenness? 

Writer/Director , Michael E. Melvin, brings us a dynamic feature debut in the finest tradition of independent filmmaking.

BROKEN WINS AWARD FOR BEST FILM

ILLUMINATION MEDIA GROUP, LLC., a Columbia, MD based motion picture and television Production Company announces that their highly acclaimed feature length motion picture BROKEN won 3rd Place for BEST FILM at the 1st Annual KingDomWood Christian Film Festival, October 9-11, 2008, Lithonia, GA. The award was sponsored by the Filmmakers Channel which provided the winning films with 30, 60 and 90 days of free pay-per-view broadcasting. The award marks the very first honor that BROKEN has received since completion in August 2008.

Written, Produced, and Directed by independent Christian filmmaker Michael E. Melvin, BROKEN is an inspirational and spiritual story centering around the lives of two brothers Kevin and Bryce, (Bryan Ringgold and Damus Fortune) these two brothers’ lives have been so fractured, one dealing with a financial and relationship issues, while the other is going through a divorce with his cheating wife Nicole (Regina Rattley), causing them to be at odds with one another. Will they ever be able to deal with it and reestablish their friendship or will the world that’s caving in on them tear them apart? Shot in mini DV throughout various locations in the Baltimore/ Washington Metropolitan area, the film was completed in August 2008. Refinancing his home Michael E. Melvin, set out to write and produce a film that God placed in his heart, as Director of Photography Michael E. Melvin, used Canon XL camera in 24p mode set to 16:9 aspect ratio to give the digital motion picture a “natural” film look. Footage from the film was transferred onto his Dell XPS Gen. 5 desktop computer, Michael edited BROKEN for a year and a half using Sony Vegas Pro 6, 7 and 8, and Sony Sound Forge 9 for audio clean up and sweeting. Sound Design and ADR were done by Eddie Henderson, GMG World Media, LLC, Bowie MD.
